    Amazinggg hair product!

Let me prelude this review with this: I have been on the lookout for a great beach spray since John Frieda discontinued Beach Blonde Ocean Waves Sea Spray. I have no idea why this product was discontinued but it was really upsetting! Many of my friends felt the same way!

I came across David Babaii’s Bohemian Beach Spray when I was purchasing some conditioner. A sticker on the product initially caught my eye, it read: “2009 InStyle Best Beauty Buys.” So I thought hmm, maybe this product could be promising? When I realized it was a beach spray I immediately picked it up and unscrewed the cap…it smelled like coconuts and mango, so tropical and summery! So I bought it and used it as soon as I got in the car… amazing!

Some other product highlights include: cruelty free. sulfate free. paraben free.&  petrochemical free.

The cost is about $9.99 and ten percent of profits are donated to WildAid, a wildlife conservation, which is awesome!

Get this stuff, if not now, definitely in the summer. I prefer to wear it and pretend its summer but that’s just me. Oh & one more thing – this product gives your hair a great tropical scent (so skipping perfume is an option if you are in a rush or if you are trying to reduce your exposure to chemicals!)

I have had this lip balm for a couple of months now but unfortunately it is not a product that I would recommend purchasing.

Since there are more cons with this product, I am going to start off with them:

-This balm does not seem to moisturize

-Does not stay on the lips long, it wears off quickly and easily

-The product seems to separate in the tube

-The cooling sensation is incredibly mild and almost unnoticeable

-The tube is small~you only get .25 oz of product

-The tube is not aesthetically pleasing – it is rather plain and ugly, I would not want to be seen applying this stuff! (I guess appearance is highly subjective though…)

To be fair, I must state the pros:

    -USDA organic ingredients

-The lips appear fuller and glossy when one is wearing the balm which gives the lips a cool appearance

So like I said, I have had this product for a couple of months. I have tried repeatedly to embrace it but this product is not something that I would repurchase or advise anyone to purchase.  Overall, Blistex Natural Cooling Comfort Lip Balm is nothing special. Do not be dismayed though, there are plenty of other organic lip balms out there! :)

I bought a Sephora PURE palette about two weeks ago. The palette comes with 1, blush and 6 eyeshadows – an awesome mix of shimmer and matte. The blush is ultra-pigmented (a little goes a longgg way!). I bought the stargazer edition because the colors looked fun to work with.

This palette will allow you the create the perfect smokey eye! : ) The makeup is long-lasting and easy to blend.

The best part about this palette is the price right now on sephora.com-$15! That is such a great deal!

Sephora PURE pros: No parabens. No sulfates. No synthetic fragrances. No Synthetic Dyes. No Petrochemicals. No Pthalates. No GMOs. No Triclosan. 95% natural. 10% organic. No animal testing.

This is an awesome palette for $15.00! It is small and lightweight so it is perfect for travel, your bag, work, school, etc.

*If you are into neutral colors, the stargazer edition might not contain the best colors for you! I would recommend that you purchase a different edition, such as wanderlust. :)

My hands are always really dry during the fall and winter so I make sure that I always have a hand moisturizer in my bag. When I was at Wegman’s, I picked up a bright orange tube of Kiss My Face hand alert.

The certified organic hand cream contains: rosemary & mint extracts, spf 8, & 2% AHA

After a few weeks of using this product, I have decided that I would not re-purchase it. Some of the downfalls of this cream include:

-scent: I love peppermint but the level of scent in this product is overpowering

-price: too expensive for amount of cream that you get (3 ounces)

-appearance: it leaves a white sheen on your hands, even if you rub it in well, which is unpleasant

-purpose: it is supposed to exfoliate and moisturize hands and it does not do a great job of either

If you are considering this product, skip it!

The hunt for an awesome, organic hand cream continues…

What do you use? Comment below! : )

So it is time to switch it up a bit and do an in and out post!

    *IN*

Black & White: I love wearing black & white right now! It seems like I cannot get away from it-when I go shopping I am just drawn to black/grey/white/silver. I find that I am even wearing more black jewelry – which seems to be easily accessible right now, especially at Forever21. Perhaps my favorite thing about the marriage of black and white is versatility. You can wear these colors, and look dressed up or casual, depending on how you accessorize.  I am going on a short trip this weekend, and everything, from my luggage to my jewelry are black & white (of course, I had to add a splash of  color somewhere so my nails are short & hot pink).

Solid perfumes: My current favorite-Pacifica solid perfume in Brazilian Mango Grapefruit. The scent is incredible. It is summer in a tiny yellow tin…I love it. The Pacifica solid perfumes are also fun to layer-be creative and give it a try. I always have a tin of Pacifica solid perfume with me because I like to reapply the scent throughout the day. It is made with organic and natural ingredients, and free of parabens, animal ingredients, gluten and artificial colors.

Roadtrips: I am obsessed with these! My month-ling roadtrip over the summer was the best thing I have ever experienced and I am anticipating and planning my next adventure…

Greek Yogurt: I love Stonyfield Oikos Organic Greek Yogurt! I find myself eating it almost every day. I have tried blueberry, honey, strawberry and vanilla. Vanilla and honey are my absolutely my favorite flavors! All of the flavors have 0% fat which is also awesome.

    *OUT*

Car maintenance: I feel like I clean my car SO often & yet it still gets cluttered with random papers, extra pairs of flats (I think there are currently at least 3 pairs of flats in my car…and I am not really sure why?!), books, granola bars etc. Also, since it is white, I constantly feel like it needs to washed! I try to refrain from this to conserve water… and time.

Missing the sun: The shortest day of the year (in terms of sunlight) 12/21 is quickly approaching. It seems like the sun is only out for a little while each day & it is usually when I am unable to be outside. I am missing warm summer days & the beach!

Trident Layer Gum: I tried both flavors but neither of them were particularly good. It had a strange consistency and was way to expensive for gum – about $2.00 at WaWa.

    EcoTools brushes are amazing!

Most of my makeup brushes are EcoTools (I think I have at least one of every brush they sell!). I also have some Ms. Makeup brand brushes-which are sold by Paris Presents, the same company that sells EcoTools.

If I am at a store and I see these brushes then I need to buy them! Here are some of the reasons why EcoTools brushes are in my makeup brush collection right now:

-These brushes are incredibly SOFT. I especially love the way the kabuki brush feels on my skin!

-Cost: inexpensive. In terms of price, these brushes are all very reasonable. Both individual brushes and brush kits are available for you to purchase. I enjoy both varieties-I keep the individual brushes in my room and the brush kits are usually in my makeup bag.

-EcoTools brushes come in recyclable packaging

-Brush handles are made of bamboo, a renewable and sustainable plant source

-Synthetic bristles = no animal cruelty

-EcoTools is a member of 1% for the planet (1% of annual sales will be donated to environmental organizations)

-EcoTools brushes are easily washable, durable, and efficient.

I use most of the EcoTools makeup brushes on a daily basis, including: the mini brushes (for eyes/lips), the foundation brush, the powder brush, the retractable kabuki brush, and the eye shading brush.

The mini brushes came in a package of  brushes. I use these little ones for precisely applying lip gloss. Sometimes I will use the mini brushes on my eyelids for applying a highlighter on my brow bones and inner corners (of my eyes).  The powder brush is great for both loose and pressed powder. Bronzer can be applied easily with the kabuki brush, it helps to create a balanced appearance. I use the eye shading brush for applying dark colors and also occasionally for blending.

These brushes are fabulous and you should buy them for your brush collection. I have added some EcoTools favorites to Katie’s picks, check them out at http://organicmakeupgirl.com/shop-katies-picks/.  Try starting a mini collection with one of the 5 or 6 piece EcoTools brush kits if you would like (that is how I got started with them)!  Then, purchase your favorites in the larger size or stock up on the brush kits.

Good luck and I hope you enjoy using these brushes as much as I do!

I love the sound of this product: a natural, liquid bronzer with no synthetic preservatives, fragrances or colors, no parabens, and 84% organic. Sounds great right? (I thought so too!)

Physicians Formula Organic wear 100% Natural Origin Liquid Bronzer is incredibly disappointing. I purchased this product in the shade Light Skin (it comes in three shades: fair skin, light skin and medium skin).

I was not immediatly impressed with it upon my initial uses. However, I did try to like it. After about a week of attempting to make it work for me, I decided that it was a hopeless endeavor.

What I was looking for: a healthy-looking, bronzed glow

What I got: an oily, unpleasant sheen

Some other unimpressive aspects about this product:

-the scent (I generally enjoy the smell of natural and organic products, they seem to smell earthy, like understated florals mixed with dirt or something. If you know what I am talking about, how would you describe it?!) The tinted bronzer smelled awful! And the scent did not dissipate, it sort of stuck with me all day, constantly reminding me that it was on my face… (*Even my boyfriend commented on the scent-how embarassing! He was not a fan of it either.)

    -the price: too expensive

    -my advice: skip this product!

If you need to get a bronze glow: try applying your favorite moisturizer (let it dry for about 3 minutes-I am obsessed with Burt’s Bees radiance day and night cremes) then gently sweep some bronzer over your forehead, temples, nose, cheeks and chin. Then, blend it all out with a clean kabuki brush. Your skin will look healthy and natural.

I love lip gloss, and lip products in general. I always find myself buying new lip glosses and balms. (I bought a Yes to Carrots lip balm in berry today and I can’t wait to try it!) Anyways, it doesn’t matter if I need it or not-if I see it & want to try it, I am so buying it!

Since I have a lot of  lip products, I often find that I buy one, use it for a week or so, then forget about it. It is rare that I find one that is awesome but when I do- I keep it with me…like it is always in a pocket of the jeans I am wearing or in my purse or makeup bag.

Lavera Lipgloss Trend in No. 4 is fabulous! It is one of those lip products that I find myself reaching for over and over again. It is a clear gloss with a distinctive, gorgeous gold shimmer. I personally enjoy wearing it alone on my lips or on top of my Badger balm. However, since it is clear and shimmery, it would look perfect on top of your favorite lipstick.

There are so many great things about this gloss:

    *looks & smells GREAT

    *moisturizing

    *made with organic jojoba

*It contains NO synthetic preservatives, perfumes, colorants or mineral oil  (Awesome!)

    *Not tested on animals

I especially love this product because I think it is a great holiday pick. The clear with gold shimmer is so pretty and wearable for everyone. Try it out for yourself, or make it a gift!

Hey! Welcome to my blog! I’m glad you are checking it out!

On this blog I will discuss: MAKEUP, hair, fashion, beauty products, anything organic, occasionally food, drinks, and literature.

So how many of you remember your first experience with makeup? I do! I was about 8. It was a hot summer day, the sunshine was pouring into my room as my neighbor yelled the familiar, “Hey Kaaaaate!” I ran down the stairs to discover some samples of Clinique products. Mascara. Lipstick. Blush. Eyeshadow! It was thrilling…and that was when it all began.

Since then, I have used countless products, ranging from drugstore to department store. Over the years my collection of beauty products has grown and diversified, products that I adore continue to be staples while others currently remain hidden somewhere in the dark depths of my walk-in closet (that is intoxicated with jewelry, shoes, makeup, hair products, and clothing).

It’s not that I am wasteful with money or frivolous, it’s actually quite the opposite. I work and earn money, like most people. However, unlike most, I am uninterested in diversifying my portfolio I’d rather diversify my look.

I have started this blog as an outlet of my passion for makeup, hair, and fashion.  Enjoy!
